I am searching for a charismatic person who feels they have been led by God to begin a new church. I am searching for a group that has been around for less than 20 years, that has less than 75 followers and preferably, lives in their own community. (I hesitate to commune, but I am most interested in groups that live communally.) I am not interested in any groups that have already been disbanded. I am searching for groups that currently function and are, possibly, marginalized by the greater community. I am not concerned about a particular religious affiliation. However, the leader ? or his/her followers- should believe that their groups maintains a specific relationship with God, which is why they stay in this group. I am not interested in groups outside the U.S. or Canada. | |

There was David Kuresh of Waco Texas who founded the Branch Dividian Church an off shoot of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Likely founded a bit before 1984 and more than 75 members at the time of the seige, perhaps more than 75 living in the commune. The people of Waco have since helped the organization build a Church with attendence recently likely less than 75. It is possible that they have resumed communal living on a small scale. The excessive force used, makes it possible that they were in touch with God, but I know of no other evidence that they were anything but a cult. They may have a new charismatic leader. I believe some of the poligamous offshoots of the Mormon Church have fewer than 75 members, some of whom live more or less as a commune. My guess is a charismatic leader is esential to prevent these groups from scattering. I think it would be a big adventure to live in a commune for a while. Neil |

for FRDE. My comment on this subject has apparently upset the management and has been removed, which is their right. Comes with the territory. However dear FDRE, your abuse is allowed. Quoting scriptures that can be verified from other translations of the Bible , as to what God requires, can be upsetting for those who know they are not complying. Who is complying with Matthew 24;14? I am looking forward to more comments. |

Pugwash, I rather think that one of my comments was also pulled. Hopefully you read it, because it contained valid advice. As far as I am concerned, you are welcome to your views, however I rather object to having a rational discussion turned into a torrent of polemic. Isaac Newton did not have the last word on physics, and the scribblings of a bunch of ill educated provincial malcontents are, to me, anything but the last word in ethics. |

Looks a bit like Maria Von Trapp goes Bhuddist Also like she had a ruck with her web designer shortly after: Temple Grounds (updated 5-12-04) I wonder whether the wig is synthetic. A nice bit of digging. |
