Hi, joul-ga:

Is there a specific medical device that you are asking about? Would
you be satisfied with a link to a page that discusses biocompatibility
of electrodes in a general context? Such an Answer would seem
commensurate with the list price you've chosen to offer for this
Question.

This might help, it has some failure cases and reasons why they failed.
