Dear crystalt1,
My answer to your question consists of two parts.
First: Does that company indeed exist? To answer this, I checked the
databases of companies registered in Texas [1] and of Texas taxpayers
[2]. On their website, x360bulk.com state "we are BFK Electronics
L.L.C. registered in the state of Texas", so if this statement was
true, they had to show up in the databases under the name BFK
Electronics. The result is that both databases indeed list BFK
Electronics as follows:
Company Information:
BFK ELECTRONICS L L C
25107 ARROW GLN
SAN ANTONIO, TX 78258-2701
Status: IN GOOD STANDING NOT FOR DISSOLUTION OR WITHDRAWAL through February 7, 2007
Registered Agent:
NATIONAL REGISTERED AGENTS, INC.
1614 SIDNEY BAKER STREET
KERRVILLE, TX 78028
State of Incorporation: TX
File Number: 0800569945
Charter/COA Date: November 10, 2005
Charter/COA Type: Charter
Taxpayer Number: 12037953390
The EIN 203795339 also belongs to BFK Electronics. So provided that
the information they gave you really is theirs (so they did not simply
use another company's data to mislead you), they really exist.
But, and this is the second part of my answer, I nevertheless
recommend to be very cautious when dealing with them. There are
several warning signals that should not be ignored:
- Routinely, as always when verifying an online store's legitimacy, I
checked the ownership record of their domain "x360bulk.com". I found
out that the domain had been registered only very recently, on 8
December 2005; and it will already expire on 8 December 2006.
Experience shows that it is advisable to be extremely cautious when
dealing with online companies that appeared out of nowhere only
recently. And the fact that the domain is registered for the shortest
possible time span of only one year is more often than not something
typical for shady businesses that use "disposable" domains they simply
abandon once they don't need them any longer.
- Nowhere on their website, they mention their street address,
telephone number or fax number. All they provide is an e-mail address.
Reputable companies usually have no reason to conceal their contact
information and physical location.
Of course, since this company's website exists only since 8 December
2005, there will be hardly any documented complaints detectable yet. I
don't claim that this company is a fraud (after all, they seem to be
really registered in the state of Texas); but I advise a certain
amount of caution when dealing with them.
Regards,
Scriptor
