We are selling our home and would like someone to review our contract with the sellers. We are doing 6-month rent-to-own and closing in July. Can you recommend some online lawyer websites that can read our contract and provide recommendations and feedback that will protect us? Can google answers provide this for me? |

You are unlikely to get a satisfactory answer. For one thing real estate contracts are largely governed by state and local laws. and attorneys in the U.S. are only licensed to practice on a state by state basis. You did not tell us where the house is located to get an attorney that specilizes in your local area. Secondly, why are you so interested in an online real estate attorney? You will likely get what you pay for if you are thinking it will be cheaper than an offline attorney. Also, it will likely take the online attorney longer if they are not familiar with your local area, even if they are licensed in your state. |

I wasn't thinking it would be cheaper. Just more convenient and a better value. I am huge Internet user. I do everything online. I shop online, buy groceries, and have all of my bills paid online. I have been even teaching my 3 yr old son how to read online thru starfall.com. He has been online since he could crawl and is very Internet savy and advanced for his age. A lot has to do with all the child activities and print outs I have gotten online. I am sure there are very qualified and competant lawyers who see the value of doing their business online. In fact, I am sure there are some out there. Exchanging documents, reviewing them electronically, and arranging an audio conference to discuss them is a lot easier than the traditional way. I am a very busy person who values his time. I would think that a lawyer who leverages the Internet is in fact very up-to-date and of high-quality. I have done lots of work with lawyers the traditional way and have found many of them to be very expensive and of poor quality, so I think I would take my chances online. I would be able to read reviews of their service, do immediate reference checks, and check out work they have performed previously. I was hoping that some people out there would know about some sites or have done this type of thing before, anywhere. There has to be some things out there like this. It was more just a curiousity question as I am doing the contract review traditionally. |
