I'm trying to determine the ideal, 5.1 wall mount surround sound/music
system. Current contenders are: Orb audio's people's choice Mod 2
system, Paradigm's cinema 110, and B&W's LCR60 S3 (for left, center
and right)and the B&W D56 S3 for the left and right surround channels.
The B&W subwoofer is either the ASW 600, 650, or 675 - or the PV1
(Gray sphere.)
My living room is 325 square feet, but is not a complete 'box'. The
main seating area is a couch pushed against the back wall, and on each
end of the couch will be a mounted surround. The couch directly faces
the far, plasma mounted wall. The right, left, and center channels
will be mounted around the plasma. As you face the plasma wall, the
left wall is your standard wall, but the right opens into another area
of the house. The ceiling is vaulted, the highest point of which is
18 feet angling down to approximately 10 feet above the plasma mounted
wall.
Of the systems mentioned above, and given my research so far, I'm
leaning either towards the Orb Mod 2, or the following combination of
B&W and Paradigm:
Front left, center right: B&W VM1
Left and Right back surround: 1 pair Paradign cinema ADP 110.
Sub woofer: Paradigm PDR 10
Receiver: Denon AVR 1906.
Question 1: Given my desire to wall mount my speakers, what package
do you recommend for best Home cinema/music experience?
Orb claim that because they sell direct, their speakers for the price
are superior to the B&W and Paradigm systems listed above. But - my
main question is simply one of performance. What set up - feature to
feature, spec to spec will outperform the others?
I want to keep my price range under $2000 including the receiver.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
