What's wrong with GA lately?  No new answers for a while, difficulty
posting comments, new questions are few and far between.  I doubt it's
a holiday lull.

We Researchers don't know about the technical background, but we
experienced immense technical problems in the past few days. However,
we are back again now, as it seems.

I have the theory that the last shift late on December 30th knocked
over a bottle of champagne on the box that updates the lists and
accepts new questions.
Posting comments worked for me.

A little more seriously, after the glitch, the question numbering has
restarted.  Previously the numbers were in the 600,000s.

C-helper, that is beyond me.  Later, I wondered if the file space for
G-A numbering  - someone suggested once that all postings also get a
number -  in binary form reached its limit reached its limit, but that
theory may just demonstrate how little I know about software  - zilch!

well we all know now what part of Google gets minimal system resource support!

It's so hard to find good servers these days.

Aren't you right, Pinkfreud.  All of my guests on Dec. 31 complained  
- not just the one I spilled champagne on.  ;)
But G-A editors admitted that G had a server problem in an answer to my email.
