I realize that ventage horror is the most valuable and then sci-fi,
etc. and that modern posters are produced in such quantities that they
may never have any value. However, there may be an impact from home
theater owners buying investment quality and enjoy them hanging in
their homes. Which ventage types will be the most popular with them
which in turn will cause their value to increase.

Join MoPo at www.filmfan.com

I've been a member since 1995. Bruce Hershenson has an auction nearly
everyweek and he's got an on-line database of his sales. Find Bruce
at www.emovieposter.com . Subscribe to his email list if you're
interested. Grey Smith at Heritage Auctions also holds frequent
auctions of prime collectible material. There are over 800 active
poster fans on MoPo. Look up Rudi Franchi at www.nostalgiafactory.com
. There are often reports from major European, Asian, South American
and Australian sources.

I believe that www.filmfan.com has several excellent articles about
movie poster collecting.

Another reliable source is Sue Heim at
http://www.hollywoodposterframes.com/ - she does a lot of frame for
the studios and people in the industry.

MoPo is currently in the middle of a flame war, but if you start by
saying you're a newbie and are looking for informed advice on the best
potential investments you'll get responses.

Some of them will be from dealers who are active in appraisal and
auction. Some will be from less intense dealers and some from
impassioned or casual directors. You'll learn how to tell the
difference between an original release, a re-release and a reprint.

You'll also see from a few scam artists, but the rest of the group is
pretty good about reporting misrepresentation or poor customer
service.

Best of luck, Cindy
