We need to replace our DVD player with a new or used moderately priced
5-disc carousel. There are so many to choose from so we'd like some
help in making a good choice.
One of the highest ranked criteria is that it will play all 5 music
CDs consecutively automatically.
We have a Toshiba TV so we feel a slight preference for compatibility
although it may not make any real difference, and the one we have now
only plays one CD at a time and then stops. Otherwise we have had good
experience with Sony.
We don't expect to upgrade to high definition TV until prices come
down a lot more and there is more content--perhaps a couple of years?
We want to play all major music formats including jpg. We don't want
heavy handed copy protection to get in the way. We want it to play
Netflix DVDs that have become somewhat smudged and scratched,
something our current one is poor at.
I've looked at a Sony DVP-NC875V on eBay and like this:
Sony's Precision Drive 3 system enables the changer to eliminate
playback errors in warped, scratched, or otherwise damaged discs that
other players struggle to read. This is a very important criterion.
However, this concerns us:
It should be noted that the DVP-NC875V cannot be considered a
universal disc player, as it follows the standard Sony theme and does
not support DVD-Audio. I don't really know what this means and how
important it is. I'm nervous about Sony's reputation for copy
protection.
Where can we find quality reviews?
Please give us a couple of recommendations for models that are readily
available on the market that we are likely to find on eBay, Amazon or
other online outlets. |
