Did R.A. Blakelock paint "The Song of the Bird"? I have this painting
with a plaque of his name and title of the painting. But I'm not sure
if he actually painted it.

Hi alliecat3!

First of all, it is not clear as to whether you mean that the brass
tag is actually attached to the frame or not, and if not, why would
you believe that it is associated with your painting?. Also, is your
"painting" actually a painting or a print? Since I find no specific
listing for the title you give anywhere in my resources I have
available, if it is a painting, I would seriously begin to think that
what you have might be an original, as Blakelock did do some work
associated with birds. The quickest way to put this question to rest
would be to check with a good magnifying lens the background of your
artwork. Do you see any sort of pattern there, such as rosettes, or
any little dots, whether randomly set or in rigid patterns? If so,
then what you have is a print and not a painting. I question this in
your case as it would be rare to make a print of a Blakelock's
painting that had fallen so out of public favor as for all sign of it
to now be missing from a traditional google search.

Sincerely,

mizzllat
