You may want a lengthy, detailed answer (from a researcher), but to sum it up it?s because it an extreme example of a ?continental climate?. Being far from the sea, the temperature is largely dependent upon direct solar heating, or lack of it. Climates are regulated and stabilised by the heat inertia of the seas, water being mixed in the upper layers and heat penetrating to a far greater depth than land. So if you are near the sea it will heat you in winter and warm you in summer. If you are a long way from it, you don?t get the benefit. Best |
