Dear mason1985-ga; Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. Most state have what is known as a ?driver compact? which essentially means that states exchange information regarding driver histories with one another. Points assessed in one state that is a member of the compact will transfer to the state where a new license is obtained. New Jersey has long since been a member of the driver compact and Massachusetts only recently adopted such a law. What this means is that New Jersey will report any negative driver history to Massachusetts. NEW JERSEY MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSION http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/cit_violations/d_vp_pnf.html CHAPTER 90: SECTION 30B INTERSTATE COMPACT; MOTOR VEHICLE CONVICTIONS http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/90-30b.htm In addition, Massachusetts requires you to surrender your out of state driver's license to them when you convert your license from New Jersey to Massachusetts. The state then runs your driver?s license to see if it is valid and what points are assessed to it. There is no way to escape this fact short of committing fraud. MASSACHUSETTS REGISTRY OF MOTOR VEHICLES http://www.mass.gov/rmv/license/9oos.htm Is it worth it? No, not in my opinion. I hope you find that my answer exceeds your expectations. If you have any questions about my research please post a clarification request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise I welcome your rating and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us. Best regards; Tutuzdad-ga ?
