Hello, danny125-ga!

As I am sure you are aware, researchers are prohibited from writing
homework essays. Therefore, while we can provide links to and excerpts
from journal articles, it is up to you to use the information to write
your own essay.

With that said, I don't know how much literature can be found on this
particular topic. I have found a few interesting journal articles
touching on this subject in a preliminary search, but not an abundant
amount. However, I have not spent much time as of yet. As one older
journal article notes, titled "Issues for Research in UK Primary
Geography:"

"While there has been consistent effort over many years to research children?s
geographical and environmental understanding, with helpful but limited results,
there has been almost no research into the teaching and learning of
geography in primary schooling."

Please let me know your thoughts concerning the possible limitations
on available information (especially given your parameters of primary
school and the UK) as well as an understanding of the fact that you
will need to write your own essay. Do you want to broaden your subject
area, or open it up to secondary school as well? Also, please note
that many journal articles online require a subscription. While you
may have access to them in your school library, some online links will
simply include the journal reference and an abstract.

I can not change the parameters of the question as it must be on the
importance of primary geography but I can use research from other
countries if it is relevant to the way geography is taught in the UK.
While I am aware that you are not allowed to write an answer for a
homework assignment I was hoping that the answer would be more than
just a list of links. I have already found the journal article you
mentioned and I am well aware of the limited research in this area
which is why I am seeking you help.

I really need information that I can use in to help demonstrate the
value and importance of primary geography. I was hoping that you could
help extract some of this information from the available sources as it
such a time consuming process.

Thank you for your clarification. I will have a look back at this if
another researcher cannot help you in the meantime.

Not really sure what you mean "I will have a look back at this if
another researcher cannot help you in the meantime". Are you saying
that you can not work on the answer at the moment?

I am saying that I am not comfortable with the amount of time it might
take to search and extract excerpts pertaining to this topic, post an
answer, and then find that you are not happy with the amount of
information I have provided. I have found some sources related to
teaching geography at the primary level in the UK, but they do not
necessarily go into depth on the "importance" of it. I have also found
a few sources of downloadable information, with no assurance that you
would want to pay for the article - For example -
http://www.geography.org.uk/Journals/Journals.asp?articleID=82
As you have mentioned - it is a time-consuming process - and I have
some concerns that I could waste several hours researching without
finding much of value. For example, the following article discusses
geography and primary education, but it does not go into much detail
about the "value" of it:
"THE STATE OF PRIMARY GEOGRAPHY IN ENGLAND." 2003
http://www.brookes.ac.uk/schools/education/rescon/THE%20STATE%20OF%20PRIMARY%20GEOGRAPHY%20IN%20ENGLAND.pdf!
If you are satisifed with these types of articles, I can try to
proceed. However, as stated earlier, many of the journal references
are subscription only, and I have no means of reading them without
paying a price. This would make no sense on my end.
As it stands now, this question is open to all the other researchers
here at GA if they feel than can provide you with some useful
information.
