I've compiled a list of words that I think sound silly. I've got about 215 of them right now. I'd like to post them on a web site and include definitions. This would just be for fun, not for profit. And there would be no ads on the page. Would it be legal to reproduce dictionary definitions for this number of words? It would probably be from at least 2 sources, which I would be sure to cite. I could put the definitions in quotes too. I guess this is a copyright issue. Thanks. |

I suggest that, to be safe, you re-word the definitions, as has been done by the author of this collection of "Unusual and Weird Words": "I have used a variety of dictionaries in compiling the IHL, though I have not simply copied out dictionary definitions." http://phrontistery.50megs.com/ihlstart.html |
