This song was a minor hit about 1967. It was considered supportive of
the Vietnam war. It was sung by a man and contained the lyrics "The
eagle has to make a stand and fight and show the baron's people
watching everywhere, we are not running. If you take the time to look,
the answers in your history book. Its all there friend...." I would
like name of song and singer.

recursional --

Was it actually "sung," or was it a "spoken word" recording? Do you
remember anything else about it?

Was it "Dawn of Correction" by The Spokesmen?

Hi there recursional,

Here are a few more details.

"Dawn of Correction" was written by Raymond J. Gilmore, John Madara
and David White (The Spokesmen) as an answer to Barry McGuire's "Eve
of Destruction". The song entered the Billboard Top 40 the week of
October 9, 1965 and stayed there for 3 weeks, peaking at #36.

Dawn of Correction

I'd love to know whether dufmac7's answer is correct.

All the best,

It might be "the Baron" a minor hit by Dick Curless from 1967. He was
a one-eyed country singer with a deep baritone voice, known as "The
Baron of Country Music." Here's a link to the original album it
appeared on:
http://www.luma-electronic.cz/lp/c/Curless/curless_allofme.htm

You can hear a snippet on Amazon on his greatest hits album (track 7):

(The snippet doesn't include any of the lyrics you site, but you never know.)

It was not Dick Curless, although he sounds interesting. Thanks for
trying. I think the date may have been earlier than 67 - maybe as
early 1964.
