I was told that eating foods that has been cooked, frozen (or refrigerated) and re-heated repeatedly (say, 2-3 times) is not good for your health. Please tell me why and give supporting evidence if any. |

Dear PPangja, The main reason, is, as Probonopublico has commented, the risk of food poisoning. Bacteria could develop in food that is cooled and re-heated: "Not all harmful bacteria are killed by cooking. After cooking, these remaining bacteria can grow rapidly both when the food is cooling and when it is being re-heated. Further, the food may be re-contaminated after cooking. Therefore, food should reach at least 74? C (165? F) when you re-heat it. Again, make sure this temperature is reached by using a meat thermometer. Do not reheat your leftovers more than once!" That advice is commonplace. I believe that there is a risk that such action can cause contamination and food poisoning. Don't do it! |
