Why is the skyline gtr34 so fast compared to other highend european or asian cars when it only has a straight 6? What is so good about it that makes it not only expensive, but a winner on the streets? Can anyone answer these questions and provide me with the important specifications of the car? |

The R34 Skyline GT-R in stock form is not as fast (straight line acceleration) as it's hyped up to be. Stock, the car has 276 bhp @ 6800rpms and 216 lbft torque @ 4400rpms. With a curb weight of over 3600 pounds, it sprints 0-60 in about low 5 seconds (thanks to ATTESSA, Nissan's all-wheel drive configuration that works as 100% rear wheel drive under normal driving parameters, but power is transferred to the front wheels once slip is detected. I believe max power transfer is 40-60 F-R). The RB26DETT motor in the Skyline responds well to modifications, which is why in auto racing videos, the cars are ridiculously fast. The combination of an engine that responds well to modifications (and also has tons of reputable aftermarket parts available) plus a drivetrain that is capable of handling its hefty curb weight make the GT-R an excellent sports car. Hope that answers your questions. www.exvitermini.com has more technical information as well as videos regarding the R34 Skyline if you are interested. |

Because it either has a very high axle ratio (ex. 5.13) for 0-60, or a lower gear ratio (ex. 2.18) for top speed. Even though the engine is only a straight 6, the axle ratio can have an enormous impact on either acceleration or top speed. -Jim |

as a follow-up, also the Skyline is a highly modified street racing car. The axle ratio has been changed as a result of putting a better rear/front axle in the car. NOS is a big factor, also. A stock Skyline would not preform like this. |

NOS, are you serious? well any way, the car has a ridiculously stround that has survived modifications up to 600hp stock. plus twin turbo responsiveness is good. ATTESSA is a big factor. the skylines engine was made for greatness then tuned down |
