Question ID: 428901
Who is the Artist who engraved the following 2 etchings/engravings?

A: "La Veduta del Franco destra della Basilica Vaticana" - 1778
Procession of Principle Clergy around the church of St. Peter's in the
Vatican, Rome.

B: "L'Interno della Basilica Vaticana" - 1775 Interior view and
Investiture of Pope Innocent XIII within the church of St. Peter's in
the Vatican, Rome

These 2 etchings/engravings are depicted and described on the web page
of "Lord Russborough's Annex"
http://www.russborough.com/JCM/architecture/rossini/rossini_base.htm

The same engravings were sold on ebay on October 25, 2004.

Use these two sources(russborough.com & ebay) to identify the
engravings in question only, but not as a source to verrify the artist
who make them.

Excluding these two sources, what other documentation is available
that they are by Luigi Rossini, who was of course not born by the
dates on these engravings?

I am wondering if they could be in fact by Giuseppe Vasi. Or perhaps
by another artist?

Simply because these engravings purport to depict events before
Rossini was born doesn't mean that they could not have been his work.
Many artists - especially of that period - chose to populate their
architectural views with imagined people and historic happenings. The
"Lord Russborough's Annex" website states categorically that these
particular prints are from Rossini's book LE ANTICHITA ROMANE,
published in 1829, and seems to give a individual page reference for
each one. It's hard to believe that they would do this, if the
engarvings were not in fact by Rossini, and were produced around the
dates of the events depicted.
