What does name Sheiva (not Sheila, Sheeba, Shiva, etc.) mean? What is
its origin? It was my grandmother?s name. She lived in Bessarabiya,
later Moldavia. It was a common name in Eastern European Jewish
communities at the end of 19th - beginning of 20th century.

"Sheiva" is an alternate spelling of "shevah," which means "oath" in Hebrew.

Shevah is also  the Hebrew word for seven.
