What does name Sheiva (not Sheila, Sheeba, Shiva, etc.) mean? What is its origin? It was my grandmother?s name. She lived in Bessarabiya, later Moldavia. It was a common name in Eastern European Jewish communities at the end of 19th - beginning of 20th century. |

"Sheiva" is an alternate spelling of "shevah," which means "oath" in Hebrew. http://www.hebrewletters.com/item.cfm?itemid=2348 |
