This was a 1970s tv movie or miniseries where a family moves to a small country community and their teenage son becomes involved with this harvest ritual where a harvest king is choosen, and the family thinks it is an honor, but it turns out that the king is used for a breeder, then sacrificed by the women of the community, and any male that witnesed the ritual has his tongue cut out' andhis eyes sewn shut. I'm dying to find out more about it. Doc |

That's the plot of a 1978 TV miniseries based on a novel called "Harvest Home" by actor and author Tom Tryon, called "The Dark Secret of Harvest Home." Bette Davis is also in it, as the town matriarch. It was cut from its original 5 hour length and released on VHS, but is no longer in print. You can find out more about it on the IMDb: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0077399/combined The novel is available from Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0394485289/qid=1136864358/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-5076194-4691834?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 |

I am not sure if this is correct, but it sounds like "The Dark Secret of Harvest Home". Check out the information on it on the Internet Movie Database. |
