That's the plot of a 1978 TV miniseries based on a novel called
"Harvest Home" by actor and author Tom Tryon, called "The Dark Secret
of Harvest Home." Bette Davis is also in it, as the town matriarch. It
was cut from its original 5 hour length and released on VHS, but is no
longer in print.

You can find out more about it on the IMDb:

The novel is available from Amazon.com:

I am not sure if this is correct, but it sounds like "The Dark Secret
of Harvest Home". Check out the information on it on the Internet
Movie Database.
