64MB is the BARE minimum and if it did install, you will be limited in
some features and severly limited in the overall performance. Other
requirements:

PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed
recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;* Intel Pentium/Celeron family,
AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum
supported; may limit performance and some features)
1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.
Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor
CD-ROM or DVD drive
Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

I highly suggest you add additional memory to your machine before installing XP.

RAM is a market iteam. It goes up and down like stocks. It seems to
be around $1 a ram so to upgrade to 256 would cost about $256. These
days 256mb of RAM are about average. 64mb is a dog.

If you shop online for RAM you generally will get it cheaper.

Make sure the RAM you buy is compaatible with you PC's mother board.

New outrageous Dell Dimension
(Keep checking it might drop down to $399 soon)

try http://www.gotapex.com

Much easier and cost effective than to spend money (even $50 on older
systems) on old systems.

I hope this will give you a new system for the new year.
