The driver side power window on my 1999 3.1 Liter Chevy Monte Carlo
stopped working. I went to put it down one day and it made a loud
click sound. I tried to 'help' it down with my hand, the clicking
stopped but the window wouldn't work. The motor runs but the window
doesn't move. It actually won't even stay up. I am looking for
instructions on how to fix and/or replace the window motor.

If the motor is running there's probably nothing wrong with it. It
sounds to me like the pane has come loose from the bracket or slipped
out of the track. If you remove your inside door panel you'll probably
see that I am right.

I did remove the panel. Everything was in tack. The only thing I
could think of was maybe one of the gears was worn or broken. I was
wondering if maybe there was some sort of limit that cause the window
to go off track. I took everything out and then put it all back, but
the same problem. Is there a specific way it needs to be put back?
Trackwise or something??

I think that if you take the drive portion of the motor apart you will
find that the plastic lugs are broken and stripped. Take marbles and
drop into the cavities so that it will have something to drive
against. Good as new.

allenlawrin,

try squirting some WD-40 or White Grease on the motor and the
operational arm. If this doesn't work, try SMALL amounts of grease.
