1. Can water be ionized and cleaned just like the household air cleaners sold?
Yes, from my opinion more noticeably. Chlorine or non-Chlorine shock
is still needed and the ionization bars do not last forever.
2. Are there any companies in existence that have a water ionizer
product and are using it in commercial applications? & 3. If the above
is yes or no, any companies that have a product to
clean pool water.

Unfortunately, many state regulations force commercial swimming pools
to maintain a certain chemical sanitization level.
4. If the above is no, is it viable in function and cost to create a
commercial product that will ionize pool water and completely
eliminate the need for pool chemicals?
That I believe depends on pricing.
I own and operate http://www.pool-ionizer.com (I am not the manufacturer).
Ionization is so unbelievable it seems fraudulent. Selling residential
I get many people nervous about paying $200 for a product they feel is
to good to be true. But it is not. My 30,000-gallon pool looks
marvelous year round and I am in the south where pools are harder to
maintain do to the sweltering weather.
Strangely some companies sell units for $1,000s of dollars! From my
research mass-producing an ionizer is relatively inexpensive. Circuit
board, Power, Plastic, Copper, Silver and sometimes Zinc. Why zink??
It is used as a filler to make the bars appear larger and last longer.
