Hello, Fascinating question. I've been interested in this too. I'm going to list some information resources you may want to examine. I'll begin with web sites. WEB Plausible Futures - a consultancy for future studies and scenario based strategic planning established in Oslo, Norway 1996. <http://www.plausiblefutures.com/> Northern Arizona University Futures Forum - resources for futures resaecrh <http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~rdr/Ant547/ftrrcrcs.htm> Coates & Jarratt Online - "Founded in 1979, Coates & Jarratt, is one of the few organizations in the world exclusively dedicated to the study of the future." <http://www.coatesandjarratt.com/> --Coates & Jarratt's extensive list of futures resources (must see) <http://www.coatesandjarratt.com/resources.htm> BOOKS: There are many books written about the future. Instead of providing you a lengthy bibliography I'm going to give you a url to a title sold by amazon.com that will lead you to other titles (look at the other title listed on this page) The MacMillan Atlas of the Future 128 pages ; Dimensions (in inches): 0.37 x 9.65 x 6.93 Publisher: John Wiley & Sons; ISBN: 0028620895; (July 29, 1998) <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0028620895/ref=pd_sim_books/102-0018394-2750551> Google search strategy: -keyword: futurology Okay, this should be aa good start. If you're not finding what you want through these sites ask for a clarification request. Thanks, rapidreference-ga |

A recent and fascinating book about the future is Juan Enriquez' book, "As the Future Catches You." I simply could not put down his synthesis of how advances in technology & science come to be and what the future impact will be across many nations. A professor of life sciences at Harvard, his interest in innovation stems largely from genetics. But he concisely lays out the political, social and economic factors that contribute to and result from innovation. |
