I am trying to use Intellisync for Yahoo! to sync with outlook 2003.
Whenever i sync them, i get the error "cannot write or update
application data". Does anyone know how to fix this? |

russellz-ga:
This is Intellisync for Yahoo!'s generic error message whenever
anything goes wrong while accessing, reading, or writing to Outlook.
The cause can range from it needing you to have Outlook open first, to
you using an alternate calendar in Outlook that is not supported by
Yahoo! Calendar.
To help you fix this, can you please answer a few clarifying questions:
1. Have you ever been able to use Intellisync for Yahoo! (I4Y!) with
your current installation of Outlook 2003?
2. Is Outlook 2003 already running when you run I4Y! ?
3. Are you using anything 'non-standard' in your Outlook calendar, or
have any strange recurring appointment patterns that are not supported
in Yahoo! Calendar (easiest way to check this out is to take a look at
Y! Calendar and see if the recurrence patterns that you like to use
are supported)
4. Which Outlook modules are you attempting to synchronize using I4Y! ?
5. Are you synchronizing, or are you instead writing in one direction only?
Thanks,

Based on your answers to 3 and 4, I would suggest that you try this
next... select only the address book to be synchronized, and try
synching. Repeat for each of the other modules, and see if any of them
work. This will help narrow down the problem to see if it is related
to incompatible data, or a general problem with Intellisync.

I narrowed it down to the address book sync. I got rid of all of the
'+' and '&' characters too, but i still get an error if i sync the
address book.

Since the problem is now isolated to the Address Book, here's one
approach to try to figure out the exact problem. In Outlook 2003,
export the entire Contacts list to a CSV file. Then, try to import the
file into the Yahoo! Address Book. If there is an illegal character or
field, this *should* trigger a warning or error message from Y!
Address Book to help isolate the offending entry.
