Hi Harshhag,

There are several ways you can transfer data from one laptop to
another. (This works dektop to laptop, and vice-versa as well)

One of my favorite ways is using a USB file transfer cable. The site
says it is compatible with Windows 98, ME and 2000, but I use it
successfully with Windows XP too. While there are others, I use this
one:

This cable comes with a Cd that puts a very small application on each
laptop. Once the software is loaded, each laptop displays a window,
similar to Windows Explorer. You can see each drive in a split pane
window. Then you simply drag files and folders from one laptop to the
other. Simple and fast.

If you have a CD burner on your laptop, you can burn the data and copy
it to the other laptop.

A USB pen drive (Also known as flash drives, USB drives, etc.) that is
large enough to transfer your data will do the trick too.

A more tedious, but cheap (Free) way is to e-mail your data to
yourself using a web-based e-mail such as Gmail, Hotmail, etc. All of
these services have a file attachment feature, and most allow up to a
10mb file size.

Keep in mind that none of these methods will transfer applications or
settings - just data.

One of my colleagues reminded me recently of Aloha Bob. I have not
used it, but it is supposed to be able to transfer applications and
settings.
