I was wondering what happened to that beautiful turquoise ring that
Jimi Hendrix used to wear? Who has it now? Also--did that ring
symbolize something to Jimi? Who gave it to him? Did it have an
inscription (and if so, what was it) etc.? (Eg. "The story of the
ring:-)"!)

There is no answer at this time.

I would have assumed that Jimi was buried with that ring on, but I can
find nothing to say that he was. I just read one of his his
biographical books, and it noted that he was buried in the suit that
he had worn for his court appearance on drug possesion charges.

According to this site http://www.tbolin.com/articles/kerrang_032676.html
The ring that Jimi was wearing on the day that he died was later
buried with the former Deep Purple guitar player Tommy Bolin who was
touted to be the new "Jimi Hendrix" but sadly he died of multiple drug
intoxication himself. No where does it say that the ring is the exact
one you are asking about... the one that is seen in so many pictures
of Jimi.

I remember reading another article one time that sad Jimi was part
Indian, and that's why he always wore lots of indian jewelry... rings
and medallions.

Hi, Irishlad! Thanks so much for the info on Jimi's ring---I did not
know that Tommy Bolin was buried with the ring that Jimi wore on the
day he died. I really appreciate the help!:-)

I guess it is kind of a mystery---I thought perhaps this ring was sold
at auction for X (thousands of) dollars, or something like that. As
you say, it is seen in so many pictures of Jimi, and it would seem to
be a collector's item.

I vaguely remember seeing a documentary about Jimi Hendrix where a
woman said something like, "he was wearing that beautiful turquoise
ring that I gave him," but I don't remember the name of the show, nor
do I know who that woman was. I thought perhaps the ring had a special
sentimental value to Jimi---that it symbolized something more than
mere jewelry. If it did, that would make it more valuable to a
collector as well.

Thanks again for your help---I appreciate it!!

You're right. I think that there is more to the story of the ring than
it just being a favorite piece of jewelry. It could have been a gift
from one of his girlfriends... two of whom are named in this
biography.

Maybe the girl was in a clip from one of the Hendrix movies that were released.

Perhaps the ring was buried with Tommy Bolin, or it might be in the
Hendrix collection housed at the Experience Music Project in Seattle.
