jacquelinepooh...

Windows XP and 2000, by default, are set to reboot for
a system error, which, sadly, leaves you unable to read
the error message and diagnose the problem.

I have Windows 2000, but the process should be very
similar for XP. Right-click on My Computer -> Properties
-> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery, and uncheck the box
for "Automatically Reboot" under System Failure.

That should prevent an automatic reboot, and allow you
to copy the error message, exactly, and post it here
to be researched.

if you wish to find out why the system is rebooting itself i would
check the system logs, if you go into the control pannel then admin
tools, and event viewer. this should give a reason why the machine
restarted itself.
most common reason is something was being processed in the RAM and
couldnt handle it.
but there is so many other possible reasons..

hope this helps.

Start -> Control Panel -> System -> System Restore(tab) Check the box.
hit apply. restart.

Once you restart you should be able to change the setting to have the
ability to see the error...
System restore is worthless..As you can clearly see it is causing your
changes to not be implimetned...

If a message about Remote Procedure Call always comes up before the
restart happens, then you may be infected with a worm that's meant to
do just that... restart your computer. To handle that kind of problem,
here's a page that shows solutions:
