What is the standard issue body armor for the Army Reserve? Model number preferably, and any comments if available. My brother joined the Army Reserves and will finish basic training soon. The military police unit that he will be joining is bound for Iraq in the spring....naturally, if there is body armor better than the standard issue, my family wants to buy it as a Christmas present. Thanks. |

"What we have told family members who have contacted us is that the Army cannot attest to the safety or the level of protection of body armor purchased rather than issued for a soldier," Tallman said. The Defense Department says it has contracted with one manufacturer for its armor. Point Blank Body Armor, which produces the Interceptor brand, has all but stopped selling to the public.
