Is the silk that is referred to in ties as '100% pure silk' natural or synthetic? |

The term "pure silk" should only be used in referring to a natural product that comes from silkworms. However, this does not necessarily mean that some unscrupulous manufacturer or distributor will not label something as "100% pure silk" when the item is, in fact, made of synthetic fibers. I once saw a kimono for sale that bore a designer's tag that said "100% pure silk." The label that was sewn inside said "100% polyester." |
