I am about to get DSL and do not have a phone jack where my computer
is located. I currently use a wireless phone jack for my
telephone/fax machine next to my computer. It works fine - no
problems. Will DSL work the way it's supposed to being plugged into a
wireless remote jack or do I need to move my
computer to a room where there is a normal phone jack? Thanks!

It should work if the wireless phone jack accepts/transmits the
correct frequency range. What is the bandwith of the wireless phone
jack? or what is the brand so I can give you more details.

The maximum baud rate is 14,400. It is an RCA Wireless Phone Jack
Model No RC926 and Extension Unit Model No. D916.

Unfortunately, this kind of device would not be compatible with ADSL
service. ADSL baud rate is far greater than a typical modem on a
computer. If you had Internet service that operated on a 28.8 modem or
the like then you may be able to connect with your wireless device.

I agree that DSL is not likely to work through the wireless phone
jack. However, that doesn't mean you need to move your computer near
a wired phone jack. You can connect the DSL modem to the phone jack
and then use some form of local area network for communication between
the modem and the computer. This could be an Ethernet cable, or the
power wiring in your building, or wireless technology.
