I don't know of a place that would offer free tech support (I doubt
many places would do that), but I do know of a good remote desktop
client. It's through a type of system known as VNC and the program is
called RealVNC. Just download the program for your platform (Windows,
Mac, Linux, etc.) here http://www.realvnc.com/cgi-bin/download.cgi.
You'll need to run the "server" on the computer you want to remotely
control and a "viewer" on the computer you want to control the other.

As soon as you've done this, find the server computer's IP address by
going to a site like www.whatismyip.com, then run the viewer on the
other computer and type this IP address.

Hope that helped,
Joe

In an industrial context, I had to connect frequently from anywhere at
any time in order to assists local tech support.

For connection i used RAS Connection, which is quite similar to set up
a dial up internet connection for end user, i guess they need
simplicity ;)
Here are some tutorial for many plateforms :
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/net/

For remote desktop, i used Real VNC which is free and easy but require
to use IP adress.I also use Windows XP built in remote desktop
connection.
Windows XP remote desktop connection can be activated using this tutorial:
http://windows.about.com/od/administrationforexperts/l/aa020526a.htm
It is not the simpliest way !

In fact, MSN Messenger remote assistance work very well over Internet
and is configuration less.

Hope that helped,
FL

Every one is searching for such solution. If you are on real IP
possibilities are immense but if not then you can try out "go to my
pc" from citrix.com
This is surely ment for peoples like you

www.geeksquad.com offers remote assistance, but it's not free. If a
company offers that kind of service for free, it's probably a scam and
they would most likely mess up your computer and put a virus in it or
something.

www.tightvnc.com ist a great Tool. It works under any OS and is free.

In our company we use www.dameware.com this is the best rdp tool e ever saw.

In Windows XP a RDP Client is already installed. Its not very comfortable.
