I don't know if it is legal but anyone who uses chlordane should be
beaten with hammers. That is, I don't know if using the chlordane is
legal. I would expect the hammer-beating isn't.

THERE IS NO SAFE LEVEL FOR CHLORDANE IN HUMANS.

Chlordane causes central nervous system effects after surprisingly
short exposure times. Short term effects can be as simple as reduced
reaction time or as serious as breathing difficulty or convulsions.
Long term effects are damage to liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, spleen
and adrenal glands; cancer.

Contact the Bureau of Solid and Hazardous Waste or the Bureau of Waste
Cleanup office and inform them that you want to know how to dispose of
chlordane safely. Their Operation Cleansweep program will help you by
providing a state-paid contractor to come to your site and package,
transport and dispose of your chlordane.

Good luck getting someone to come fetch it. If it is a termite
formula, with directions for applying it in a trench by the
foundation, the best disposition may be to use it up according to
lable instructions. "Using" chlordane is not the same as contaminating
people with it. But in no case should you toss it out in the common
trash or get sloppy with it because it is very persistant in the
environment.
