Basically I would like to get $5,000 in grants for a project that I am
working on, that involves an inventioin idea for a "new concept of
propulsion." What are some options for grants/grant writing of this
sort? Research different professional grant writers and provide price
and contact information. Also research different grant opportunities
for invention projects. For each grant: What are the application
requirements? What do they look for? What is the turn around time
for the money? How does the process work? If a $5,000 dollar budget
is accepted, what is the procedure for determining what I can
purchase? Let's say that I wanted to purchase a new computer system
to help in 3D design for the project, is this something that I could
do? Do I have to show receipts? Overall please just get the ball
rolling. I would also appreciate if you include search strategies.

I couple more things to add:

Basically I am looking for any funding options. Funding can be
private, public or government. However I do not want any sort of
loans or money that I have to pay back. I would like a list of
realistic sources with contact and web information. I greatly welcome
any advice you might have as to the process and easiest and fastest
way of securing basically what is R&D funding.

I am also interested in how to actually secure such grants via
professional grant writers, doing it myself or any other method.

Lastly I am interested in how the money can be applied. In other
words what is the procedure for spending the money after it is
recieved? Is there flexibility? Are receipts required?

Thank you so much....I hope this is not too confusing. Let me know if
I can clarify in any way.

Grants are few and far between even if you have a strong track record.

You do realize you would, at a minimum, have to explain your new
concept in great detail to anyone who might provide a grant? (We don't
need to know here.)

DARPA is an obvious possibility if you have the right academic
background but at best you would probably have to look to investors
who would want a piece of anything you develop. An SBA guaranteed loan
might be a possibility. Not many people or organizations are just
giving away money for concepts these days, too much money was lost on
