there was a segment on sesame street a number of years ago about
co-operation it featured a (not sure of the spelling) geefal and a
honk. it has been a long standing arguement between myself and my
cousin to what the actual dialog is at the end of the segment my
cousin thinks the dialog is "lets call it co-operation" to which is
replied "no lets call it shareing" and i think it is " no lets call it
shirley" can you please find an answer or direct me to a place to find
out and settle this answer once and for all thank you

Hello.

Other descriptions of the sketch on the internet match your
recollection of the Geefle responding, "No, let's call it Shirley."

From muppetcentral.com:

"The story presented the Geefle who had long arms to reach the
nectarines, but could not bend them to reach his mouth (a rather
tragic figure) and the Gonk who's arms could reach his mouth, but were
not long enough to reach the nectarines. They cooperated; Geefle
grabbed the nectarines and threw them to Gonk and Gonk gave half to
Geefle.
This also had a typical Muppet ending to the sketch when they wondered
what to call what they had just done.
Gonk: Let's call this co-operation.
Geffle: No, let's call it Shirley."
