Who sang the 70's soul song called "Check it Out"?  It was I think mid
70's and definitely was a black band.  The only line I can remember is
"Check it out, baby...."

I believe that the group you are referring to is the Tavares. In 1974,
this black band produced a song named “Check It Out.” Please refer to
the site below. It has a complete “discography” on the Tavares.

There was also a version of "Check It Out" which was recorded by "The
Friends of Distinction" in the early '70s. You can listen to a brief
