Hi avtiger,

Here are the step by step instructions to remove lop.com from your
computer. If this works for you, then please post a clarification and
I'll post this in the answer box and that will close your question.

Remove lop.com
Lop remover and uninstalling guide

Remove lop.com step 1: Open the Application Data folder. This can be
found inside the Windows folder on Windows 95/98/Me; on Windows 2000
and XP it is inside your user folder in 'Documents and Settings', but
it's hidden, so go to Tools->Folder Options->View and turn on 'Show
hidden files and folders' to see it. In Windows NT 4.0 it is in the
user folder inside 'WinNTProfiles'.
The filenames of lop files can vary for each different installation,
but usually under Windows there should not be any files inside
Application Data (only folders), so it's generally easy to pick out
the culprits.

You should also delete the following entries if you have them and they
are not just blank:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion\r TelephonyDomainName

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesVxD\r MSTCPDomain

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesTcpip\r ParametersDomain

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesTcpip\r
ParametersInterfaces{...check all interfaces...}Domain

========

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I ended up getting rid of the
Lop.com by using Hijackthis. Of which I highly recommend. This one
was a bear.

I highly recommend getting a spyware/adware removal tool for your pc.
These tools are free if you know where to look. I recommend a tool
called Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.

It can be downloaded from this link:

http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

Scan your pc, then remove all the ad stuff.

Good Luck.

Whoops, didn't see that you've already tried Adaware. I can't believe
that didn't work. Well, if there is a little round icon in the bottom
right hand of your screen, right click on that, then choose "Menu".
On this next screen go to "Help" then click uninstall. This may work
if it is a newer variant of Lop.com search bar. Tell me if this
works.

Ok, if that didn't work try going to Start Menu -> settings -> control
panel. Double click Add/remove programs. See if the program is in
there. If it is, remove it.

If this does not work:

This seems to be a good program to use to get rid of lop.com
searchbar. It's called HiJackThis. When you run it, it finds all
programs associated with internet explorer. DO NOT DELETE EVERYTHING.
Instead find the entry for the search bar - usually it is a "BHO"
entry that doesn't seem to be associated with any programs that you
are aware of.

Two of the best spy/ad remover utilities are:

Spybot
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Ad-Aware Persoanl
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

The best part is that they are both FREE, and no they are not spyware!

The real solution is to download Mozilla Firefox 1.0

http://google-download.com.com/Mozilla-Firefox/3000-2356_4-10335582.html?tag=google

and never use Internet Explorer. Use Firefox for only 1 hour and you
will think you have died and gone to heaven. It really is that much
better than Internet Explorer. No more pop-ups, no more spyware and
it automatically imports your internet explorer bookmarks and
settings!

Why not ask the owner of lop.com? He posts on their message board [see
Chat button on www.lop.com] under the nickname ^TrInItY^.
