How to fix the following XFree86 problem: startx will not run with the
following XFree86.log contents. re or new installation of XFree86 has
failed.

Well to me it looks like you are running XFree86 v4.1.0, but you have
runtime modules that are compiled for XFree86 version 4.2.0.
Specifically the bitmap, and pcidata modules. The files in question
are libpcidata.a and libbitmap.a. What I would do is type in "locate
libpcidata.a" and see if maybe you have 2 versions of that file on
your system somewhere, if so then the solution is probably as simple
as tring the other one. (meaning the one that is not in the default
module path for XFree). If that doesn't solve the problem, then I will
need a better understanding of the problem. Are you tring to install a
new version of XFree86? Are you tring to move from verion 4.1.0 to
4.2.0 or vice versa? What distrabution of linux are you using? Did you
recently change anything else on your system (espically your video
card)? When was the last time you got X to work, and what have you
changed since then?
