I am trying to figure out a way to start a small corporation in USA. I am on F1 status (student, not allowed to work). What I want to learn are the following: - Can I establish a corporation while I am on F1 visa? - If so what would be the best state to do that? - I do not need a H1 visa but I do need to accept payments in US, can I do that in US and pay taxes without chancing my visa status? - How long does it take to start a corporation (especially while on student status), costs involved? - Any references to similar cases (online, offline) would be appreciated as well. What I am looking for is not really a way to get permanent residence, but instead a way to do business (mostly online projects, home based) and pay taxes to US for this. Thank you researchers, let me know if there are any unclear points in this question. |

Hi Neo02, The short answer to your question is yes, you may form a corporation in the US. But you may not be legally entitled to work for your corporation. I was going to answer this and give you a variety of links, but then thought better of it. The questions you ask are complex ones. Your best bet is to seek the advice of a qualified and experienced immigration attorney to insure that you don't jeopardize your visa status. fsw |
