Hi. amaroK (music player for the KDE desktop for linux) fairly nicely querys amazon.com for cover art, matching it to songs. I'd like to have this cover art transfered to my video iPod, but don't know how. Where is the cover art stored when fetching with amaroK (in the file itself, in the song's directory, or in some meta-database?) and how do I get the artwork to the iPod and corresponding to the correct songs? I use iTunes (WinXP) to transfer songs. |

I recommend using amaroK 1.4-svn, the current development version of amaroK, for this task. However, because of a bug in libgpod, the library used for handling iPods within amaroK, the ArtworkDB on your iPod may not grow beyond 2 MB. This means that you can probably transfer ~5000 songs with artwork. amaroK stores artwork in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers, the filenames correspond to MD5 hashes of artist and album name. |

Thanks for your comment! Very informative. Now I may just go read the config file for the development version and compile it. I'd looked for this info in my distro's boards and on amaroK's site, as well as googling, but couldn't find it. I assume the lyrics database is around that same location ../lyrics or some such - I've been curious about that too. I'll look. Thanks again resrever, I really appreciate the comment. |
