OK now I am REALLY , REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY ,REALLY POed. Yahoo will NOT answer my emails. The short version. I've had my yahoo ID since 1999 "Investorstox". Yahoo ceased to authenticate my ID and p/w on July 3,2002. Until that date, I have had ZERO problems logging into yahoo messenger or yahoo (java) chat. YES, I did EVERYTHING yahoo' (just wonderful) computer generated emails told me to do. I am very "techy" I know how to properly enter my ID and p/w. I went so far as to delete everything from yahoo, INCLUDING editing the registry. I UNinstalled yahoo chat, yahoo messenger, oh about a zillion times. I was thinking it was MY computer, WRONG, it is yahoo' computer. How did I test this? I went to my brothers home, same problem, DIFFERENT computer. I am still wondering if they trained another class of chimpanzees to run the system over at yahoo. I am waiting for a human being to maybe, just maybe send me an email with SOMETHING, like yeah, we have a problem, we wiped out 500,000 profiles on an upgrade on July 3, 2002. Nah!, Mental note to self, NEVER buy any more YHOO stock, ever again. I can login and play yahoo games, yahoo auctions, edit my yahoo, and just about every yahoo feature. I CANNOT login to yahoo messenger or get yahoo (java) chat to load. This computer is virus checked, again, nothing there. I ran SFC, files are fine, Scandisk, nothing there either. Ran DocWatson, fine again. Ran the disk utility for errors, no errors found. Does anyone think that they can get a real live, (living) human being response from yahoo? Or do you think that yahoo has grown so big as they really don't care about the people who were on chat when it also was in the beta stage? |

Sure is free, alien. It's not my end, something went amiss at yahoo, thousands and thousands of yahoo IDs were wiped out. It's getting hokeier by the day, and no one at yahoo has any answers, except change your p/w, done that, been there. Re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-uninstalled then re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-installed yahoo messenger as told by the computer-generated emails (aren't they just wonderful?) that is YOUR stupidity that you CANNOT enter the SAME password and ID that you've had for 4 years, godforbid that (omg) yahoo made a mistake, yahoo NEVER makes mistakes. MENTAL NOTE to self- SELL my last 100 shares of that dog stock YHOO. |

Well, the point I was making was, 'you get what you pay for'. I don't know many things you can do to change the situation... yell at someone from Yahoo about their FREE service? Do you want us to find you a human at Yahoo? I'll drive there and knock on their door if you pay for the gas. You can call them at this number maybe? Probably not on a saturday. http://docs.yahoo.com/info/address/ --------- Yahoo! - Address and Phone Number Street Address Yahoo! Well, I had a HotMail account for years, and now it gets almost 100 junk mails in the inbox (and more in the 'bulkmail') each day, and and so I got a new email address at HotMail and told folk what it is. Sorted. Still free. Still relatively pleased. Anything that is free, treat with suspicion. Backup anything important, because tomorrow they might not be there. But another free service will replace them. Backup, stay with, change to the new. It's a cycle, it's bloody good value, it's a few keystrokes. |

alien, are there any surplus US Army Tanks for sale on Ebay, maybe that'll get their attention, JUST KIDDING. Anyway, google I think alienintelligence-ga deserves the five bucks, he's right, as a shareholder of Yahoo, Inc, I can be extremely angry if I get a "real" person at Yahoo HQ. Although I am still keeping my hunch there are a few chimps in the building, after all what was that order that I saw for 1000 lbs of bananas ;) ? |

alien, I am laughing too hard. Hi, this is so-and-so from google answers, yes, I am here to find out why you won't authenticate mr. ________ yahoo ID. Jeeze, they'd be laughing their butts off. Or they would wisk you away to the depths of the yahoo caverns with the chimpanzees and you'd be AWOL from google answers, hmmm I think I see a TV series. Yeah, yeah, this is getting interesting. Man disappears after entering Yahoo HQ, asking questions about yahoo chat. Last seen answering questions on google answers. :) |

As a test, I tried to create a new Yahoo account with the username "Investorstox." I was told that a user by that name exists, which would seem to indicate that your account has not actually been deleted. This does not solve your problem, but it may provide a bit of solace. On a lighter note, regarding the interesting question of whether Yahoo is being run by chimpanzees or by humans, perhaps we might reasonably wonder whether the answer may lie somewhere between the two species. I speculate that the place is operated by "Yahoos" -- see second illustration on this page: http://www.fmarion.edu/~drjohnson/APR21.HTM |

OK take a look at this link http://search.profiles.yahoo.com/interests?.kw=InvestorStox&.oc=t&.sb=1&SEARCH=Find+People jeeze, I am logged in, but I am not there, this sounds like an episode for The Twilight Zone. At the Yahoo chat ahead... I emailed yahoo inc, that page and ask for a courtesy response, not one of their usual computer generated responses. Anyone have any contacts that work/worked for yahoo inc, please leave a comment. If any tech persons have any knowledge as to what "occurred" at Yahoo chat on July 3, 2002, please leave a comment. If invaders from another star system have indeed landed and taken over Yahoo inc, look guys I really am sorry about that crack about the 3 toed sloth remark :) |

guru, that was very, very funny, thankz, I needed that. btw, the rumors abound that yahoo chat will soon be a pay-for-chat service, dunno how much, but as the rate of the .com implosion reaches epidemic proportions, who knows? Anyway, I do not expect a reply from a live tech person from yahoo inc. They've become too big, and with a gazillion chatters, why would they even attempt to try to solve my itty-bitty problem. It's not like I have not patronized their advertisers, (i have) it's not like I have not bought anything from yahoo auctions, (i have) and finally, so they wiped out a few thousand profiles and everyone had to create all-new ones, tsk, tsk, read the fine print on the terms of the service agreement. OK when is the next shareholders meeting for Yahoo, this time I think I need to make sure that I am attending it. |

stockzguy.... I found your profile, alive & well, at: http://profiles.yahoo.com/stockzguy I also found my two (2) profiles alive & well, in the same manner.... though I had to log in on the webpages in order to view your profile or mine... ...and that worked just fine...with my usual usernames/PWs.... When I tried to login to Yahoo Chat, however, using the same nicks & PWs, I was asked to download the latest version of Yahoo Chat. When I declined to do so, I ran into the same dilemma you described, receiving a chat window from 'System', begging "Please".....and being unable to complete the login. I suspect that if you download the latest version of Yahoo Chat, you'll have no trouble completing the login.... As for me, it's time for bed..... : ) sublime1-az |

No sublime, that is NOT the problem, it's STILL yahoo' problem. I just deleted ALL my old profiles, save for my original ID "InvestorStox. Yahoo' servers will NOT authenicate my p/w nor my identity in either yahoo chat or messenger. Somehow, somewhere, they "erased" my InvestorStox profile, which is you DEFAULT profile. Regardless of what ID you use in chat or ANY yahoo service, the servers there and the database (yeah right) always refer to your DEFAULT profile. So even though I've tried to logon with "stockzguy" the server rejected me faster than a bad packet. Yes, I d/l the lastest version of both chat and messenger, did not help. Went and used my brothers 'puter, same bullcrap. I called and emailed yahoo, again, they don't care, they are too big now, I don't matter, even as a YHOO shareholder, they could care less, wait til the next shareholders meeting, boy, oh boy :) |

You might be interested to know that I have had the same problem on my parents' computer. One day it would no longer connect to Yahoo chat. I tried every browser from IE4 to Mozilla 1.2a, nothing worked. I wiped the computer, tried again. Nothing. I was suspecting a hardware problem, but now at work, my computer cannot open Yahoo chat. The other parts I have not attempted to use. Incidentally, I believe they have multiple versions of their chat applet, I remember reading that IE needs Microsoft's VM to work. |
