There seem to be two banks that fit that name: the Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia and the National Bank of Cambodia. The latter is the central bank of the country: http://www.bigpond.com.kh/Council_of_Jurists/Banque/bk002g.htm Here is a site with the names of the Foreign Trade Bank's correspondent banks: http://www.ftbbank.com/ IF the CD was issued by this bank, one of the correspondents should be able to help you. If they offer to send the CD for collection, be sure to ask about charges and how long receipt of funds may take. Good luck! |

Here is a site for the National Bank with address and email addresses. I would try to contact the bank directly and ask about the best way to cash the CD. IF they suggest that you simply mail it to the bank and that it can send you a check drawn on a bank in your country for the equivalent amount in your currency, that would avoid collection charges, but it is, of course, a risk. Send by registered or insured mail, and keep a photocopy and copy of your correspondence. IF the National Bank says that it can only send a check in Riel, you would then have to take that to your bank and have it collected - more charges and exchange rate expense. They may also suggest a bank in your country that will send the CD for collection. You can also ask your own bank or a major bank in your area about its sending the CD for collection. I don't know if you need to endorse the CD, but maybe. Another reason to talk to a major bank first. Good luck! |
