I would like a list of all large (and as many small) ISP's, with the
reverse DNS base domain that is assigned to their users (both dynamic
as well as static i.e dialup as well dsl.).
so.. for comcast it might be (blahblah).comcast.net or comcast.com..
If theres no rdns domain for the isp, i need the ip range for that isp.
If IP ranges are included for each domain.. then the tip will be $200..

quick and accurate answer = large tip even if ip ranges are not included.
Regards.

modena-ga,

I want to make sure I understand your question.

You seem to be asking for a list of ISP's with at least two columns:
first, a company name, and second, the company domain name.

So for Comcast, the list would be:

Comcast.........www.comcast.com

and another example:

America Online.......www.aol.com

Is this correct? And if it is, how many ISP's would you expect to be
listed as a reasonable answer to your question?

And if it's NOT correct, then please explain in a bit more detail what you need.

As for the ip ranges, this is pretty messy business, as far as I
understand things. For instance, sticking with Comcast as an example,
here's just a PARTIAL list of assigned IP's according to the ARIN
website:

Comcast ..... TEXAS-8 (NET-24-0-0-0-2) 24.0.0.0 - 24.1.255.255
Comcast ..... PENNSYLVANIA-9 (NET-24-2-112-0-1) 24.2.112.0 - 24.2.127.255
Comcast ..... TEXAS-9 (NET-24-2-0-0-1) 24.2.0.0 - 24.2.31.255
Comcast ..... PENNSYLVANIA-10 (NET-24-3-0-0-1) 24.3.0.0 - 24.3.255.255
Comcast ..... SACRAMENTO-7 (NET-24-2-32-0-1) 24.2.32.0 - 24.2.63.255
Comcast ..... COLORADO-10 (NET-24-8-0-0-1) 24.8.0.0 - 24.9.255.255
Comcast ..... SACRAMENTO-8 (NET-24-7-128-0-1) 24.7.128.0 - 24.7.191.255
Comcast ..... BAYAREA-9 (NET-24-4-0-0-1) 24.4.0.0 - 24.5.255.255
Comcast ..... UTAH-9 (NET-24-2-64-0-1) 24.2.64.0 - 24.2.95.255
Comcast ..... BAYAREA-11 (NET-24-7-0-0-1) 24.7.0.0 - 24.7.127.255
Comcast ..... BAYAREA-10 (NET-24-6-0-0-1) 24.6.0.0 - 24.6.255.255
Comcast ..... SACRAMENTO-9 (NET-24-10-0-0-1) 24.10.0.0 - 24.10.127.255
Comcast ..... UTAH-10 (NET-24-2-96-0-1) 24.2.96.0 - 24.2.111.255
Comcast ..... UTAH-11 (NET-24-10-128-0-1) 24.10.128.0 - 24.10.255.255
Comcast ..... MICHIGAN-G-5 (NET-24-11-128-0-1) 24.11.128.0 - 24.11.143.255

Comcast ..... MICHIGAN-G-4 (NET-24-11-0-0-1) 24.11.0.0 - 24.11.127.255
Comcast ..... MICHIGAN-L-4 (NET-24-11-144-0-1) 24.11.144.0 - 24.11.159.255
Comcast ..... MICHIGAN-L-6 (NET-24-11-192-0-1) 24.11.192.0 - 24.11.223.255
Comcast ..... ILLINOIS-14 (NET-24-12-0-0-1) 24.12.0.0 - 24.15.255.255
Comcast ..... MICHIGAN-L-5 (NET-24-11-160-0-1) 24.11.160.0 - 24.11.191.255

Comcast ..... ILLINOIS-15 (NET-24-7-224-0-1) 24.7.224.0 - 24.7.255.255
Comcast ..... OREGON-7 (NET-24-20-0-0-1) 24.20.0.0 - 24.21.255.255
Comcast ..... WASHINGTON-9 (NET-24-16-0-0-2) 24.16.0.0 - 24.19.255.255
Comcast ..... OREGON-9 (NET-24-22-0-0-1) 24.22.0.0 - 24.22.63.255
Comcast ..... WASHINGTON-11 (NET-24-22-128-0-1) 24.22.128.0 - 24.22.191.255
Comcast ..... OREGON-10 (NET-24-22-64-0-1) 24.22.64.0 - 24.22.127.255
Comcast ..... BAYAREA-14 (NET-24-23-192-0-1) 24.23.192.0 - 24.23.255.255

All together, Comcast has well over 200 individual listings for ip
ranges for different segments of their operations. You can see that
consolidating this information for more than just one or two ISP's
would be a mammoth undertaking.

Please let me know how you would like researchers to proceed with
providing an answer to your question. The more detail you can
provide, the better the results are likely to be.

Thanks.

Most major ISP's will provide the user with a reversedns for the ip
they are assigned when they connect (comcast for example).

So, I want:

ISP - ISP ReverseDNS Domain. + [IP Ranges Assigned to that ISP].

  OR

if the isp has no reverse DNS domain..

ISP - List of ranges for that ISP + Base Domain of the ISP (if you can find it)

Some ISP's might provide reverse DNS only if the user pays for it, for
those ISP's i want:

ISP - ISP ReverseDNS Domain + [IP Ranges]

whatever you see in the [] isnt mandatory.

I will gladly pay another $400 for this information to the researcher
who finishes up with the IP ranges preferably. (I will open another
dummy question for the researcher to answer and pick up the list price
($200) + tip ($200) )

I hope this clears stuff up.

Regards.

modena-ga,

Please indulge me for one more clarification request.

Since we seem to be sticking with Comcast as an example, can you show
me the precise information you would like listed out for Comcast?
What do you understand to be their reverseDNS? What is Comcast's base
domain. What ip range do you want listed?

I provided a god deal of info on Comcast in my earlier comment. Can
the rdns, base domain and ip range that you want be identified from
that information? If not, what's missing that prevents such an
identification?

I just want to be sure we're on the same page with our understanding
of the key items you're interested in.

With just a bit more feedback from you, I'll be able to figure out how
to best move forward on this.

Thanks.

Ok, Comcast..
Here's a reverse DNS domain from comcast.. it's comcast.net
(pcp02649351pcs.flrdav01.dc.)comcast.net
And another..
c-24-19-39-179.client.comcast.net -> this resolves to 24.19.39.179
So, The base reverseDNS domain of comcast would be:
comcast.net
And as you can see, the IP is there in the range..
Comcast ..... WASHINGTON-9 (NET-24-16-0-0-2) 24.16.0.0 - 24.19.255.255

So, I will require:
Name of ISP
Base reverseDNS domain (if non-existant, ip range is mandatory and the
base domain of that ISP is mandatory)
IP range(s) of that ISP.

I hope im clear now.

Regards.

Thanks for the clarification -- it helps a lot, but I'm still trying
to get my arms around which specific addresses you're looking for out
of the hundreds associated with a large ISP like Comcast.

Do me a favor, and have a look at this link:

http://www.senderbase.org/search?page=domains&searchBy=domain&searchString=comcast.net

It seems like the right tool that's needed to answer your question.
But I'm still not sure how to put it to best use.

Any thoughts...?
