In which cities is Brokeback Mountain currently being shown? Also, I'd
like a breakdown of the number of theaters per city and average
revenue per theater.
For example, I've seen an article which said Columbus Ohio had 11,000
revenue per screen over the last weekend.

United States and will go into wide release with 700 theaters on

most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly (January 13, 2006) gives a
per-site average of $18,020. This was for the holiday weekend of
December 30 - January 2, when the movie was showing on 269 screens.
Entertainment Weekly gets its data from Nielsen EDI.

Bobbie did a very good job but another researcher or reader helped out
especially with the last question of mine regarding revenues.

I may have been scanning Bobbi's list too quickly and the listing's
there, but I don't I don't see JACKSON, WYOMING aka JACKSON HOLE, 
where "Brokeback" is playing.  I know 'cause a friend of the family
owns the theater.  In fact, as of last week anyway, that theater was
the only theater in the entire state of Wyoming showing the film and
the New York Times interviewed the owner.
"Brokeback Mountain" takes place in Wyoming. . . but they actually
shot the movie in Canada (Calgary).

One more question. As far as revenues, you couldn't find anything
regarding Brokeback's average per city or per theater. On two
different occasions, I read articles either in the Dallas Morning News
or USA Today that had figures for a few select cities such as
Columbus, Nashville, and Milwaukee. I just wonder where they got those
numbers.

Please get back to me when you can and we'll wrap this up.

numbers come that you've been reading.  The key film industry box
office tracking company is EXHIBITOR RELATIONS.  The studios report
their weekend guestimates on Sunday and late afternoon they issue a
report -- and that's what you read in papers the next day or hear on
your 10 or 11 pm news on Sunday night.

You have to subscribe to Exhibitor Relations to get all the data. . .
but here's a Dec. 7th newspaper article that quotes the President,
Paul Dergaribedian, who the media looks to for an overview every
week:b

 "In December, Focus Features released ``Brokeback Mountain'' to the
highest domestic per-screen average ever recorded: $109,485 in five
theaters. That's impressive, but less so given those five theaters
were in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, markets you might
expect to pony up to a movie about gay cowboys.

``Brokeback'' has played in more theaters and smaller markets every
week since its release. Last weekend it reached 269 screens, up 52
from the previous week, with a 61 percent jump in attendance from the
previous week. According to Variety, last weekend's per-screen
