I would like to know what resources (information, software, contacts) are available to assess the threat of wildfire in the wildland/urban interface to individual parcels in the Sierra foothills of California. The most comprehensive information I have found on the subject is from New Zealand and is located at http://nrfa.fire.org.nz/projects/wta/GIS/_docs/WTATechnicalDocumentation020416.pdf The software used by the model described therin is GIS software from ESRI. 1. I would like to know if other (open source or Google earth) GIS software has been used to model Wildfire threats. 2. I would also like to know publicly available sources for GIS data sets. 3. A list of people who are active contributors to this technology would be nice. |
