I'm the author of Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk about Sex After Sixty (Seal Press, 2006, http://www.joanprice.com/BetterThanExpected.htm), which was quoted in the same New York Times article that featured Gail's book Jan. 13. It's wonderful that this topic that stayed hidden under the covers for far too long is now out in the open. I interviewed women 60-80+ for my book, and the attitude was always the same: these women still love the sexual connection with a partner (and/or, in many cases, solo), have solutions for the physical challenges, and bristle at society's and the media's view of older women as sexless. Together, we are affirming the joy of our continued sexuality -- which, by the way, gets much better for many of us after 60 than it was right after menopause -- and we're talking about it, finally! Hurray! Joan Price www.joanprice.com |
