I am looking for software that allows me to set up a secure "company
store" featuring branded merchandise with my company's logo. This
would not be a public site; it is for internal use only. Also -- I do
not want to be tied down to one promotional item vendor. In other
words, I want just the software -- no products to go along with it. I
need a "checkout" solution but it does not need to accept payment as
this will be handled internally. But it does need to be able to track
inventory, display available items with pictures, and allow users to
add items to a "shopping cart".

Goto http://www.asp.net and there you will find a starter kit for
ecommerce solution. this is a small fully working web application for
a store front. And I think it has all the interfaces for checkouts,
payments etc. etc.
The only thing you will have to do it change the logo and banner
images and you should be all set.
And its all free...
