Q: Is there a risk that the results of a hair test can be affected by
environmental contamination?
A: The PDT-90 test utilizes several independent approaches which rule
out the possibility of a positive result through external
contamination. These procedures involve extensive chemical washing of
the hair specimen, followed by analysis of the content of the wash
data. This wash analysis is a critical step to ensure that any
contamination is effectively accounted for. Along with the parent
drug, the PDT-90 identifies drug metabolites, when appropriate, which
are known to be produced by ingestion. The PDT-90 tests ability to
distinguish and measure metabolites with its highly sensitive GC/MS,
GC/MS/MS or LC/MS/MS equipment is one criteria used to eliminate the
possibility of false positives from external contamination.
Additionally, any positive internal contamination (e.g., from passive
inhalation or even poppy seed consumption) is distinguished from
deliberate drug use by setting cut-off levels above those which can be
produced by passive internal exposure. Extensive external studies
confirm that external exposure is not a factor in the PDT-90 hair
testing results.

Q: Does chemical treatment of the hair affect the test results?
A: Commonly used hair procedures (e.g., shampoos, conditioners,
sprays, mousses and gels) have no significant effect on results. Drug
residues remain permanently entrapped in the hair. The PDT-90 lab
routinely analyzes products that claim to strip drugs from hair.

Q: Does the lab perform GC/MS, GC/MS/MS or LC/MS/MS confirmation of
all positive results?
A: The lab provides automatic confirmation for cocaine, opiates, PCP,
methamphetamine, and marijuana on all pre-employment or employee tests
which screen positive. Therefore, no positives are reported without a
confirmation test.

hmm...
about the only way to get out of it, would be

a)to submit a contaminated sample that would be rejected by the
verification process. or some kind of contaminating / masking agent
that would be screened for in the second round of GC/MS tests. hard to
test or recommend, because the masking agent has to break down the
hair follicle to contaminate the hair follicle, but leave it strong
enough to survive the stripping and cleaning process for testing. a
wildcard at best.

b) stay clean for a week to 10 days, then shave your head and eyebrows
off. and anywhere else too. tell ppl you... had chemo, results of a
college prank, robbed in a bar, etc. joined the republican party,
michael moore book club, etc.
