Dear jerry12345678-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question. For the moment, at least, there is no Federal statute
prohibiting the sending of anonymous mail through the US Postal
Service. However, in recent years, and especially since the September
11th attacks and subsequent anthrax contaminations of postal
facilities and private offices, there has been talk of prohibiting the
sending of such mail in the future, but it has yet to develop into
anything definite as far as anyone knows.

I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you
have any questions about my research please post a clarification
request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating
and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again
in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.

Best regards;

Don't print your envelope on a colour laser printer ... those can be
tracked back to purchaser!

One method that in High School I tried and it did work then was to
mail a letter inside a letter. On the inside envelope put the mail
address of where you want the letter to go. On the outside envelope
put the address of a post office in some other state. (eg if you are
in NY then Texas) Address it to the postmaster. Make sure you put
enough postage on both envelopes to mail it to both addresses.

I tried it and it did work (decades ago). Then you get a postal mark
not in the state you originally mailed it from. (I sent the letter to
my room mate.) I wouldn't include anything illegial in the envelopes
or harmful.
