I live in the Caribbean (Jamaica, specifically). Here in Jamaica, we have different sets of clothing. You have a set for going out of the house and a set for when you are in the house. The "in-house" set is called your judgin clothes. I have a walk-in closet full of outing clothes, but am seriously lacking in judgin clothes. My husband is always chastising me for wearing my "good" clothes in the house. You aren't supposed to mix your good clothes and judgin clothes. It's not that my judgin clothes can't be nice, but once they are judgin clothes, they are no longer outing clothes. Part of Jamaican culture is that friends, family, acquaintances, and even business associates drop in unannounced. My dilemma is this: I don't like to have people show up at my door and catch me in a mu-mu style house dress or an old t-shirt and shorts. I need to develop a little wardrobe of judgin clothes that are stylish and comfortable but hardy. My measurements are 42-31-41 and I'm 5'9" (175cm). While my bosom is on the large side, my shoulders and torso are pretty thin, so I usually wear a size medium top, and a size large bottom. I wear anything from a size 10 to size 14 in pants - it depends on the manufacturer. I wouldn't mind having one sweat suit, but everything else needs to be comfortable for the hot weather. We don't have air conditioning here. The average high temperatures in my area are: 86F/30C December-February 87F/30.5C March-May 90F/32C June-August 88F/31C September-November humidity 70-80% year-round Needs: Clothing must be able to withstand frequent washing in hard water and direct sunlight line drying. Shouldn't have much in the way of rhinestones, beading etc., as those do not hold up to the rough conditions here (i.e. my washerwoman is not the gentlest person) Should come from a company that is located in the United States (I have an American shipping address and don't want to pay shipping costs from Europe, Asia, or Australia) Should cost less than $100 per outfit Must be stylish and suitable for a young, upper-class "lady of the house" Must be climate appropriate (note the average temperatures in my area). Mix and match tops and bottoms are best, but some dress-type things would be ok too. Skirts, pants, and shorts are fine. Tops can be pull-over, button-down, sleeveless or short-sleeved I have a nice figure, which I like to enhance. My tastes run to the exotic and unique, but classy. No pants with "hotty" written on the back, and please no glittery t-shirts with silly pictures on them. I'm pretty open with color, though I don't dig yellow. I would like specific links to outfits, not just websites. I am tired of wading through website after website. I would like 15-20 outfits to choose from. I hope this is enough information, but feel free to ask for clarification. | |

Thanks for the link. While most of the items on that site aren't... quite as fashion-forward as I like (an maybe too old for me?), I did see a couple of things I like. Perhaps that can help my elusive researcher... I particularly liked: Tilley Tropicana Calypso Pants http://www.tilley.com/detail.asp?catId=14&gender=w&extractBy=CollectionId&id=12&productNo=LL16 TilleyHemp Women's Island Tank http://www.tilley.com/detail.asp?catId=14&gender=w&extractBy=CollectionId&id=27&productNo=HE12 TilleyHemp Women's Cabana Pants http://www.tilley.com/detail.asp?catId=14&gender=w&extractBy=CollectionId&id=27&productNo=HE10 |

No one has asked for clarification nor tried to answer my question. This is my first question, though I've been reading them for a while. I tried to set the price at an appropriate level. Have I offered too little money and/or asked for too much information? I tried to be very specific in my question. Was I not specific enough? I don't mind changing things up a bit to make this work. HI Jenny, Aren't you lucky, living down there - and having too many "good" clothes and not enough "judgin" ones! I think your question is indeed very specific, and Bobbie has given you several suggestions, plus, of course, the link from Dmrmv-ga, which apparently is more your style (I - male - like them too.:) The difficulty with a question like this is that we can only point you towards various sites and leave it up to you to pick, i.e., a researcher would be reluctant to post an "answer", since it could lead to an endless discussion of: "Yeah, that's nice, but ....", and since Researchers are eager to help, but also eager to get a good rating, the whole project could become more time consuming than originally expected. Bobbie will get an email advising that you have posted a clarification. Good luck, Myoarin |
