I want to organize a neighborhood poker tournament in Charlotte, NC,
but I don't want to run afoul of anti-gambling laws. I'm looking for
information that clarifies the definition of "gambling" so I can
decide how far I can go with entry fees, prizes etc. I already know
what the NC statute says - I'm really looking for practical
applications of the law to see if I can give a prize that has a small
montetary value (like a set of poker chips or a novelty deck of
cards.)

I should add that I've already looked at the answers to similar
questions on Google Answers, so I feel like I understand what
constitutes gambling in general (game of chance, etc.).
